Whether you have or haven't started working on core rehabilitation with the MUTU System, finding clothes that fit well and/or that help you avoid being asked if you are pregnant can be challenging. Wearing maternity pants/shorts is one of the last things you want to do, I get it! BUT, if you are having trouble finding things to fit correctly, try some maternity pants with the thinner demi style elastic band -- not the full panel! Your shirt should be long enough to where the band doesn't show. Check out some if these inexpensive capris and shorts from Walmart that have worked for me. You'll learn with MUTU how important shoe choice is-flat shoes are a must and were instrumental in my healing.
A friend of mine who doesn't have DR but struggles with a post-baby pooch swears by shift dresses, which can also be layered with leggings. Anything that puts pressure on your waist can be problematic since it redistributes the pressure, so nonrestrictive elastic waistbands, stretch elastic belts, and shift dresses are helpful (no shapewear, sorry!). Shirts can be tricky. If you go too flowy it can look like a maternity shirt, but if you go too tight/fitted, you may also be asked if you are expecting. Avoid clingy material that tends to hug and accentuate the middle. Try shirts fitted near the bust and looser in the middle. Many tunic styles or bubble/banded hems are typically flattering as well as shirts with details at the neckline or collar that draw the eye upward versus toward your belly. Cardigans, prints, scarves and necklaces can also minimize focus on the middle section. Click to learn more about the MUTU System or to order!
